This is a tough time for all the people around the world. Pandemic is a debilitating phenomenon that we are experiencing as of the moment. Many people suffered not just physically but also in terms of career growth and financial security. In addition to its impact on public health, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused a major economic shock.

What is its impact?

The pandemic had already caused massive dislocation among small businesses just several weeks after its onset. Amid this unprecedented time, many small business owners have made the difficult decision to close their business. Some businesses have closed permanently during COVID-19, while others are temporarily shut down. This means that unemployment rate is increasing while workers are either dissolved or their companies have shut down.

How does Freelancing helps?

However, COVID-19 has put a renewed spotlight on the importance of remote work. Employers have their eyes opened on the genius side of remotely doing work while producing a decent amount of profit. In fact, many kinds of work can be done just as effectively, if not more so, from a home office. This is where freelancing takes on the highlight. Even before the global pandemic made working from home temporarily routine for millions, increasing numbers of people had been saying goodbye to their onerous commute to work.

How to be a freelancer during this Pandemic? To work effectively from home, you'll need to make sure you have the technology you require, a separate workspace, Internet service that meets your need, a workable schedule you can stick to, and ways to connect with others. Plus, enrolling in different trainings and short-courses are ways to educate yourself especially that freelancing involves a vast category of work. You have to know which niches would suit your skills and use it to connect with clients. In addition, having optimized profile in different freelancing platforms could scale your workforce (Upwork, Onlinejobs.ph, etc.).

The take home?

It is a competitive world. Even during pandemic, people are trying and ensuring to find solutions in order to be innovative in terms of upgrading knowledge and skills for career growth. Freelancing could help one's self, a family, a community, or even the whole world. It is your responsibility to adapt to this ever changing world. Help yourself so that you can help others. Besides, help is always given to those who seek for it.
